چکیده

Recently, there has been increasing interest in using BCI in 3D virtual environments. There are several reasons for using a brain-computer interface in virtual reality (VR); some of these are the same reasons for using VR in general: rehearsal of scenarios that are too dangerous in the real world (e.g., controlling a wheelchair); prototyping devices (e.g., robotic hand); prototyping new control methods; studying the effects of "watching virtual body part actions" (e.g., applied for stroke rehabilitation); and increasing motivation and/or mental effort in BCI feedback experiments.

A Study of Various Feature Extraction Methods on a Motor Imagery Based Brain Computer Interface System

Introduction: Brain Computer Interface (BCI) systems based on Movement Imagination (MI) are widely used in recent decades. Separate feature extraction methods are employed in the MI data sets and classified in Virtual Reality (VR) environments for real-time applications. Methods: This study applied wide variety of features on the recorded data using Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) classifie...

Human-Computer Interface Issues in Controlling Virtual Reality With Brain-Computer Interface

We have integrated the Graz brain-computer interface (BCI) system with a highly-immersive virtual reality (VR) Cave-like system. This setting allows for a new type of experience, whereby participants can control a virtual world using imagination of movement. However, current BCI systems still have many limitations. In this paper we present two experiments exploring the different constraints pos...

Enrichment of Human-Computer Interaction in Brain-Computer Interfaces via Virtual Environments

Tridimensional representations stimulate cognitive processes that are the core and foundation of human-computer interaction (HCI). Those cognitive processes take place while a user navigates and explores a virtual environment (VE) and are mainly related to spatial memory storage, attention, and perception. VEs have many distinctive features (e.g., involvement, immersion, and presence) that can ...

Human Computer Interaction Using Vision-Based Hand Gesture Recognition

With the rapid emergence of 3D applications and virtual environments in computer systems; the need for a new type of interaction device arises.
